Young Thug Released on Probation After Guilty Plea in YSL Trial

Young Thug, real name Jeffery Williams, has been released on probation after pleading guilty in the high-profile YSL trial. Following over 900 days in custody, he will serve 15 years on probation under a plea deal that includes restrictions and community obligations.

Williams pleaded no contest to charges of racketeering, firearm possession, and street gang involvement under Georgia’s RICO Act. Prosecutors alleged he led the YSL gang and connected him to the 2015 murder of a rival gang member.

In court, Williams expressed remorse, apologizing to his family and pledging to change. Judge Paige Reese Whitaker mandated that Williams live outside metropolitan Atlanta for the first ten years of his probation, except for family events, and conduct annual anti-gang presentations. He is also barred from associating with gang members and must complete 100 hours of community service each year.
